How OCS Uses AI to Help Restoration Contractors Get Paid

OCS’s Contractor Portal & AI

Most of the AI tools that OCS uses are built into our OCS Contractor Portal. Every one of our contractors gets access to this portal when they onboard. It allows contractors to submit claims, track payments, view personalized analytics, and more. Many of these features are driven by artificial intelligence.

AI-Powered Data Analytics for Restoration Contractors

One of the most powerful ways OCS uses AI is through the Contractor Portal’s data analytics tools. These features help contractors see the bigger picture of their collections performance. AI analyzes patterns across a contractor’s submitted claims, spotting trends in important claims metrics like payment timelines and settlement outcomes. This gives contractors quick, at-a-glance insights into things like what types of jobs have better profit margins and how their overall cash flow is trending. Instead of digging through spreadsheets, our restoration contractors get a clear, AI-powered view of their accounts receivable so they can make better business decisions faster.

Immediate Answers to Simple Claims Questions

The AI built into the Contractor Portal can also answer some questions for contractors. Contractors can ask the AI things like the status of a claim or the date a claim was submitted, and then the AI will review all of the claim information on file and provide an answer almost instantly.

This AI answer tool doesn’t replace human support, but complements it. All of our contractors have an account manager that they can ask questions to. Our account managers continue to be our contractors’ greatest resource for more complex claims questions. But the Contractor Portal’s ability to answer many of the simpler questions our contractors have about claims is a convenient and fast way for them to get the information they are looking for.

AI Restoration Claims Summaries

One of the ways we put artificial intelligence into action is through claims summaries. Instead of manually combing through notes and emails to get up to speed, OCS claims advocates now see AI-generated summaries that outline important events and next steps for any given claim. This helps the OCS team save time, and our contractors directly benefit from this. When we don’t have to spend as much time reviewing lengthy claim information, we can more quickly resolve a claim, which translates into faster payments for our contractors. 

Keeping Restoration Contractor Data Safe

One downside of many publicly available AI tools is that they are not truly private or secure. In fact, many public AI tools, including popular ones like ChatGPT, warn users not to share private or sensitive information. 

With the AI used by OCS, you never have to worry about where your data or sensitive information is being shared. The AI features powering our Contractor Portal are developed and managed entirely in-house, which means we never hand off contractor data to outside systems. Sensitive financial information stays safe, secure, and private.

Claims Predictions

AI’s ability to analyze information and spot patterns can be an invaluable tool for restoration contractors and other businesses, including One Claim Solution. But AI is only as intelligent as its input. One Claim Solutions has processed thousands of restoration claims for contractors nationwide since it was founded in 2016. Because of this, we have access to a dataset of real-life claims and their outcomes that is more expansive and detailed than few, if any, other businesses have. All of this information makes OCS and the AI tools we use better equipped to analyze, find patterns, and predict restoration claims outcomes. 

Contractors and our OCS team already have access to claims analytics through the portal. One of the things our team is exploring is how we can use AI to harness that analytical information and our historical claims data to predict the outcomes of claims. My professional journey has spanned both emerging startups and established corporations, with a steadfast focus on cultivating high-trust, low bureaucracy teams and innovating technology using agile methodologies.

In my free time, you can find me flying drones, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with my family.

Hello, my name is Cam, I’m the COO of One Claim Solution! I come from a management consulting background (Bain & Company) and hold an MBA from the University of Michigan. I have worked at a wide variety of organizations, from Fortune 500 to small-cap, in an equally wide variety of industries. I have over 15 years of experience in operations and strategic growth, and I have spent much of my career focused on developing high-performing tech-enabled service organizations through early stage and high growth phases.

Outside of work, my wife Brittny and I have four kids, ages 13 to 6. As residents of Mesa, Arizona, we love to ski and explore the national parks of the southwest!

Hello, my name is Dan, and I am the CEO of One Claim Solution. I am super excited by everything we are doing at OCS to be the market leading insurance billing specialist that advocates on behalf of our restoration contractors. 

My professional experiences are predominantly corporate in nature. My career started at General Electric in finance and accounting. Immediately prior to joining OCS, I spent time as an investor at Bondcliff Partners and management consultant with Bain & Company. I also hold an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and got my BS in finance and accounting from Northeastern University.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two young children, and our family dog, Whiskey. We live in Charleston, SC and take advantage of the beautiful weather by spending as much time as possible outside at the beach or adventuring around town

Josh Ehmke

Hi, I’m Josh! In 2016, I co-founded One Claim Solution with my partner Jeremy Traasdahl, and I serve as General Counsel of One Claim Solution. Working in the restoration industry, Jeremy and I saw contractors struggling to get paid quickly and fairly and we knew there was a need for change. We founded One Claim Solution to be this change and it’s been my privilege to see our company grow and to advocate for our clients as general counsel.

Outside of my passion for helping the restoration industry, I enjoy spending time outdoors, fly-fishing, hunting, skiing, and coaching my kids’ baseball teams. I’ve been married to my amazing wife for 20 years and we have a beautiful family of 5 children.
